The zoo that we keep in out little house on the hill just got a little bit bigger last Friday. And when I say a little bit bigger, I mean a little bit.

Teeny-tiny stinkpot turtle named Leroy Raatikainen moved in!

He’s honestly the funniest creature I’ve seen for a looooong time. He looks like E.T. when he’s stretching his neck above the water. Also he doesn’t look particularly graceful like big sea turtles when swimming about. He looks more like… I dunno… Rachel from Friends running Phoebe-style. 😀

Sick leave

Friday, November 12th, 2010

So I’m on my first day of fortnight long sick leave. Diagnosed with severe sleeping disorders, work-related exhaustion and this time there is also the rather unbelievable burn-out in there. WTF honestly. I do know that I was stressing and agonizing over work related stuff like a lot, but burn-out? I didn’t know that things had come that far. 🙁 The doctor (who was very kind and empatethic) said to me the first time round I went to see her that I’m too kind when it comes to work. I’m not getting into details about the working conditions and the personnel policy, but I will say that in the future I won’t be so kind as to take on the responsibilities of two or three people.

I guess I need to work on the bitch-factor when it comes to working. 😉

You know, I’m not so bummed about losing my job as I am losing my office space. I know I know, weird, eh? (to tell you the truth losing the job picks my butt SO fucking bad i cannot fathom it)

The biggest reason I’m going to miss this office space is the red little fella who’s been running up and down the tree trunks behind my window. It’s a terribly cute squirrel. I’ve seen him everyday and I think he has seen me, because at times he stops to sit on a branch and stares back at me. Either with a food item (i suppose) in his mouth or just … you know, sitting there, all squirrely-like. He has this beautiful, rusty-red shaded fur and he seems to be in a very good health, judging from the lack of bald spots on his fur or tail for that matter. I guess I’ll be making a small adjustment to my normal walking routes and start passing this building with pocket full of nuts every other day or so.

Damn I’m going to miss that squirrel. Sqrl.

Yesterday morning I woke up to a wee bit of snow on the ground. Ok, it was expected, as it is November already (can you imagine? in little more than a month it’s yule).

This morning I woke up and immediately had to start thinking where our shovels and other means of moving snow were stored last spring. I suppose I have to go and find out. Hubby went someplace with his father, so I guess it’s up to me to clear the yard. \o/

Where are my overalls, goddammit.

So I’ve been not writing a lot lately (har har lately). I hated the previous layout so I’ve changed into this. Dark and broody and all that. (it’s not that i’d be dark and broody, i’m merely grumpy) I like it, for now.

I’m going to be having more time in my hands for all things domain-y, interwebb-y and generally just $_ -y, because I’ll be out of work come the end of November. Yea, it sucks balls like no other, but what can I do. Besides, I’ve been on a sick leave for a week now because work got the best of me. It was (and probably still is for the remaining three or so weeks) getting a bit too much and that’s about all I have to say about that. For now.

As said, I will be updating this here blog more often from now on and I have a few stories to tell. 🙂
