Old characters, new tricks

Lately I’ve found myself thinking of Karina and Tem.

I thought I’d finished their story, but somehow there are a couple of plot bunnys hopping about somewhere just out of reach. I mean I’m not against bringing them back, no way, Karina is one of my favourite OFCs, so I would have zero problems writing more about her.

I have time to think about writing, because I’m starting to really get into running. I find when running, I’m completely on my own and I can ponder on my characters and stories in a very different way than sitting on my computer. Running is sort of automatic function I don’t have to think about doing (thank fuck i’ve been running before so i’ve got the technique sorted) and therefore my mind is freed to process stories 100%.

We’ll see what happens. The plot bunnys seem to be pretty and fat, so there might be a part 2 in the making.

Season opening

Lately I’ve been a bit busy. And when I say a bit, I mean a lot.

I’ve started my running season with my new shoes and the 5K Runner app on my phone. I’ve had the first run with it and whilst I’m super doubtful that I could ever run 5 kilometers at once, I’m giving it a go. Shoes seem to be excellent, didn’t feel like blistering at all! This is a massive improvement to earlier shoes, which have caused me at least one blister per foot the first time I took them out. I have to see how it goes with another run, but so far it looks good.

However, as I’ve started the running, I’ve encountered a bit of a problem. You see, I go to combat and step three times a week (once to step and twice to combat), three times to the gym and I need to clock three times a week on the running app. Also, I would like to have a day off, completely. Last time I counted there were seven days in a week, and with the day off, only six left to my exercises. So I guess I have to combine gym and running days. I mean both step and combat are such gruesome workouts I absolutely cannot have anything else on the same day.

Phew, we’ll see how this all fits in. I mean I have to get my weight down and the scale seems to love what I’m doing, so…

2. a song that reminds you of school: Manic Street Preachers – Tsunami, we listened to this a lot with Juk in tech school.
3. a song tied to a specific moment in your life: Keane – Everybody’s Changing, me, my sister and Juk listened to this when hauling shit to the landfill and sang along and everything was perfect.
4. a song that is not sung in your native language: Zeljko Joksimovic – Lane Moje, a hauntingly beautiful Serbian ballad sung by a man with a voice that sounds like what a fresh tobacco smells like.
5. a song over 5 minutes long: Simple Minds – Hypnotized, the most erotic song ever.
6. a song under 2 minutes long: I don’t recall any. D:
7. an instrumental: Daft Punk – Solar Sailer from TRON: Legacy, this is just … magnificent.
8. a classical piece: Anything by Mahler. I like classical when it’s supposed to be played LOUD AF.
9. a song with no percussion: Disturbed – The Sound of Silence, this is a bloody brill cover, just amazing.(ok it has a little tiny teeny bit at the end but not a full blown thing like they’re a rock band and it’s only like little so eat it)
10. something you’ve heard performed live: U2 – Ultra Violet and I’m SO glad I’ve witnessed this.

This week I’ve mainly been proud of myself. I’ve excercised properly in six days and tomorrow’s my day off. I’m going to try and keep this pace up for the month of April and see how I feel about it then. I’ll probably start running then too. I’ve got myself the 5K Runner app and yesterday I bought myself shiny new running shoes!

I’ve also been nearly three months without my two favourite things in the world: sweets and chips (mmm chips i’d fucking murder for some). I’m more proud actually about the chips thing, because they’re like my absolute favourite food. I’ve not eaten any bisuits or cake or really any pud this week and I intend to keep things at that. I don’t need any of those, they’re only excess sugar and fat. Which I REALLY don’t need if I want to be in better shape.

Also I got my order from the lovely Kikki.K! Yay! I got the wellness planner inserts and I’ve been setting myself some exercise goals. It’s super fun! There are also some mindfulness and mental health things that I need to get into a whole lot more, like meditation and mind & soul goals. Everything fits nicely into the large teal Kikki.K planner I switched to (i’m so sorry filofax domino, i haven’t forgotten you, i’m just giving you a break for a bit). Here’s the new dashboard.

I also ordered a dashboard kit and I’m liking that a lot. With the birds and the quote cards and the stickers. Mmm yes. I might be a little tempted to ditch my pocket size filofax from my bag (which i made myself) and go with the personal sized. I’m just so full of energy I feel like I could actually be arsed to decorate two planners for each week. Here’s the bag I made:

I haven’t been sewing anything, literally, since grade eight. Or nine. But whichever, it’s been twenty years and I’m honestly quite proud of myself. I showed it to mom, who’s like this sewing superwoman and she said it’s not too shabby. So yay me! I’m going to make another one, a little bigger one, since I have a lot of the fabric left. I like the colours in that so much and it goes with the saggy sorry ass cardie I wear these days (yay it’s warm enough to wear only a cardie outside!).

I’m trying to come up with a new layout (well, a complete makeover really) for Handmade, since I want to make it more professional looking just in case. Just in case. Hmmh. Yea.
